Third Grade Visits Washington Crossing Historic Park
Our Swain third grade is ending their unit on the Lenape people and starting their unit on Colonial life. As they transition between these two different, they visit Washington Crossing Historic Park.
Third grade starts their new unit on colonial life by reading together the historical fiction story, George Washington’s Socks. They learn about George Washington and his impact on the history of the United States when they visit Washington Crossing History Park, where George Washington crossed the Delaware River and turned the tide of the Revolutionary War.
During their visit, students also spent time in a historic colonial village where they played games, saw a demonstration on making clothing from wool, and learned about the types of boat George Washington would have used to cross the Delaware River.
