Patrick Cook-Deegan, founder and director of Project Wayfinder, was a 2015-2016 education innovation fellow at Stanford’s d.school, graduate of Brown University, and former Fulbright Scholar. In his article, Seven Ways to Help High Schoolers Find Purpose, he reports that his research infers specific ways young people can find purpose in their work:
After congregating as one school in the sacred space of Central Moravian Church for Opening Chapel, the entire Upper School travelled to Camp Canadensis for our Upper School Retreat. This, too, was sacred time. It was a formative opportunity to set the tone for the year, to honor our connections, and to try new things with the support of our peers.
Mr. Ian Gutgold '10 Mr. Ian Gutgold '10, a Moravian Academy graduate, joins the history department as Mrs. Burd’s one-year replacement. Mrs. Burd will return after spending a year on a much-deserved sabbatical. Mr. Gutgold returns to MA with his masters in curriculum and instruction and a masters in history from UNC-Chapel Hill. He has taught economics, government, sociology, psychology, and world history at the high school level. Mr. Gutgold brings with him a love for MA, a passion for history, and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning.
