This week, we solved our third word mystery: “The Case of the Disguised Words.”
We were super excited to receive a text and then a package from the Super Secret Detective Agency (SSDA) today. Inside we got a letter from Harry B. Winchester, who invited us to become word detectives. There were also word detective badges and magnifying glasses for each of us. We are so excited to try to solve “the case of silent e.” Be sure to check with your word detective to find out their new word discoveries each day.
Recently, first graders completed their second unit of study in phonics. The topic was “The Mystery of the Silent E." For this unit, first graders were deputized as word detectives and received cases from the “Super Secret Detective Agency.”
