Bethlehem Police Officer Burton and K9 Partner Visit First Grade
Downtown Campus first-graders had a surprise visitor on Thursday, January 19, from Bethlehem Police Officer Ra'Von Burton and his K9 partner, Bean.
Officer Burton was patrolling the area near the Downtown Campus when he to pop into our first-grade classroom to say hi to students and introduce them to Bean.
"Hallo!" to our newest Officer, K9 Bean! Bean is a 2 year old German Shorthaired Pointer from the Netherlands & she & her handler, Officer Burton, started training this week. K9 Bean will specialize in explosive detection, tracking lost individuals, & community engagement. 🐶 pic.twitter.com/bKTtxwXO6r

If Officer Burton looks familiar, it's because he went viral in 2019 for knocking a ball out of the yard during a pickup baseball game at a Lehigh house party while on patrol. At the time, he told WFMZ that acts of humanity like this "bridge the gap between the community and the police department."
His partner, Bean, is a German Shorthaired Pointer from the Netherlands whose specialty is explosive detection, tracking lost individuals, and community engagement.
Thank you, Officer Burton and Bean, for keeping our community safe! You're welcome at the Downtown Campus any time!
