Career Talk Series: Interior Designer, Mr. Anthony Sierra
On Wednesday, December 13, the fourth grade launched their Career Talk Series.
Earlier this year, the fourth graders took a walking tour of Historic Downtown as they were creating their own tours as part of their map skills social studies unit. When the time came to choose our first speaker, interior designer Mr. Anthony Sierra was a perfect choice as he decorated the Historic Hotel Bethlehem for the Christmas season.
Sierra has called Bethlehem home his entire life. A graduate of Notre Dame High School, Northampton Community College, Parsons School of Design, he works at Gail Gray Home as a residential interior designer. He designs homes all year long but during the holiday season, he spends time creating magic at his clients homes. Combining his love of history and architecture, the hotel was the perfect canvas for his creation.
He gave the students a behind-the-scenes look at all the elements of the decorations, the stories behind particular rooms, taught them about the rules of design and how he gets his inspiration. Students got the opportunity to ask him all kinds of questions such as: what made him choose his career, how does he choose decorations, how long does it take to decorate homes vs. hotels, and much more! They were excited to learn about this career and the stories behind the decorations at the hotel. Thank you, Anthony, for stopping by!
