Fantasy Sports Leagues Converge with Social Studies in FANschool

March 04, 2021

It’s FANschool season once again! Now in its fifth year, the Eighth Grade social studies will feature a competitive fantasy geopolitics league via the FANschool platform.

FANschool play mirrors traditional fantasy sports leagues. Students draft three different countries and earn points based on how often their countries are mentioned in the news. Trading countries and seeing how they stack up against their classmates creates a fun, competitive atmosphere that enables students to get excited about reading the news and learning about new countries. This activity is not graded but will serve as an engaging and interactive supplement to our current events discussions.

Our FANschool league has a regular season of 12 weeks, at which time the best teams in the league will advance to an elimination playoff series. In the end, there can be only one Walp Bowl champion! Who will win the coveted T-shirt and trophy? Stay tuned to find out!
