Marlon Maignan '28 Named Lower School GeoBee Champion!

January 30, 2020

Each year, our fourth and fifth-grade students participate in National Geographic’s GeoBee, a nationwide competition that requires students (Grades 4-8) across the country to answer challenging questions about U.S. and world geography.

This year, after rounds of questions, our fourth-grade finalists were Evan Bonyun '28, Ainsley Donecker '28, Asad Ali '28, Marlon Maignan '28, and Ralph Auden Watts '28, and our fifth-grade finalists were Max Abia '27, Ian Dunn '27, Olivia Seymour '27, and Maddie Yang '27.

On January 23rd,  our finalists went head to head in the oral finalist round. From that really tough competition, three finalists from Moravian Academy's Lower School were named:  (drum roll please)

3rd place:  Maddie Yang '27

2nd place: Olivia Seymour '27

1st Place & Lower School Champion:  Marlon Maignan '28!

The next step in the competition is for Marlon to take the online State GeoBee Qualifying Test before February 7th. I know you all will join me in congratulating all who participated, and wish Marlon well in his qualifying test, in hopes of continuing on to the State Competition on March 27th.

Remember, all of our Lower School students can prepare for future GeoBees by diving into learning about the world around you. It's a great adventure! ¡Sí se puede!
