Maintaining Community During Virtual School
Our mission compels us to respond with innovation and big hearts when we encounter challenges. At the Upper School, our social distancing has not kept us from providing moments to be social and maintain community.
Here's an update on some happenings:
Over 63 students, running for the 2020-21 student-elected leadership positions, have submitted student council or class officers video speeches. Speeches are available for viewing by the Upper School and Q&A sessions begin next week - Monday for student council positions and Tuesday for class officers.
Three grades hosted Netflix Parties watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off and episodes of The Office. All grades are planning additional events in the coming weeks, even weekly gatherings.
Virtual school meetings and class meetings have been connecting students and continuing the work of student leadership and communications online.
Online gaming tournaments are extremely popular and connect many students across grades in the Upper School. We are in our 3rd round of tournaments and they are going strong.
Our second Upper School virtual trivia night, hosted by Quizbowl, was very successful. The first week's winner was Grace Sanborn '21 and the second week's winner was Alex Adams '20. The next trivia night is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 pm.
