Renewed Traditions: Ringing the Old School Bell to Start a New Year
On September 2, 2022 students, faculty, and staff on the Swain Campus gathered in the school courtyard to ring the old school bell to kick off the new school year!
An old tradition renewed as Swain Campus "lifers" rang the old school bell! And an old tradition refreshed, when Director of the Swain Campus, Megan Franzyshen, announced that the designation of "lifer" will be expanding. Formerly, a Swain "lifer" was any student who completed all years between preschool - eighth grade at the Swain Campus. Now, a "lifer" will be any student who graduates from the Swain Campus and started their Swain education in preschool, prekindergarten, or kindergarten! A more inclusive group and a better representation of what it means to be a "lifer"!
In addition to ringing in the new year, students learned that the buddy program will begin again! Buddy groups shared a wave and our student leaders in fourth - eighth grade created a tunnel for their younger buddies to dance, run, or hop through!
