Señora Veronica Guevara Sra. Veronica Guevara arrives at Moravian to be our new Spanish Humanities teacher in the Lower and Middle School. She will create a new course of studies for the post-immersion students starting in fifth grade, be a co-leader for a fifth-grade post-immersion homeroom, and teach two sections of seventh grade Spanish. Veronica is excited to join the MA community and comes with a wealth of experience, including previous positions teaching Spanish for over 22 years at three independent schools. She is a passionate teacher with deep experience writing curriculum. At previous schools, she also served as the Middle School Innovative Mentor Teacher and planned and developed a middle school cultural exchange program. She has led numerous international student trips to Spanish-speaking countries around the world.
Mr. Ian Gutgold '10 Mr. Ian Gutgold '10, a Moravian Academy graduate, joins the history department as Mrs. Burd’s one-year replacement. Mrs. Burd will return after spending a year on a much-deserved sabbatical. Mr. Gutgold returns to MA with his masters in curriculum and instruction and a masters in history from UNC-Chapel Hill. He has taught economics, government, sociology, psychology, and world history at the high school level. Mr. Gutgold brings with him a love for MA, a passion for history, and a student-centered approach to teaching and learning.
Dear Lower School Parents, The summer continues to fly by. And in just a few weeks we’ll be ready to launch into the Academy’s 278th school year. The excitement is building!
