The Great Preschool Bake Off
The Preschool children have had many opportunities to learn through baking this year. During the month of December the dramatic play center was transformed into a bakery.
The children enjoyed pretending with playdough, cookie cutters, rolling pins, and baking sheets. Dressing up, taking orders, and using the cash register made the whole experience feel even more authentic!
Additionally, our “sweet” preschoolers actually became bakers! They made applesauce, pumpkin cookies, banana bread, and sugar cookies. While baking, they not only learned about following recipes and measuring ingredients, but they also practiced fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, cooperation, and math skills. This hands-on approach to learning is enjoyable for the preschoolers and they are so proud of the delicious treats they have made!
