The Moravian Academy Flag Goes to Space!

September 24, 2021

Last spring, our community signed a flag that would be included on the first-of-its-kind, all-civilian journey to outer space thanks to the generosity of mission commander Mr. Jared Isaacman

The Inspiration4 crew splashed safely back to Earth on Saturday, September 18, 2021. In the days since, Mr. Isaacman shared this video that he filmed for our school while in orbit.

"Hey, Moravian Academy," says Mr. Isaacman in the video. "Thank you so much for sending this up with us. Let me show you it float around a little bit."

The camera pans to the incredible view from the Crew Dragon's cupola to show "a little view for everyone at Moravian."

Our school has been following the Inspiration4 mission since Mr. Isaacman's visit to our school in the spring. Mr. Pomeroy kept our community well-stocked with scientific fast facts about the mission, rocket, and crew as we neared the launch date.

This historic mission and the difference it made for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital may have made international headlines, but this story was a personal one for our community. Our entire school rallied in support of Liv '34 and Mila '32 as well as their parents, Monica and Jared Isaacman, who graciously made us feel like we were along for the ride.

Students in JoAnne Daniels's sixth-grade class even made their own patches, inspired by the Inspiration4 patch and the four pillars of leadership, generosity, hope, and prosperity.

We once again thank the Isaacman family! Now, we can proudly say that a piece of our school is literally out of this world!
