Therapy Dogs Visit Beginning School Students During Town Meeting
During a recent Beginning School Town Meeting, Swain Campus students in Preschool - Kindergarten were visited by two four legged friends, Mallory and Alvin, who have very important jobs! They are therapy dogs!
Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs, is a group of volunteers whose primary objective is to provide comfort and emotional support by sharing their personal dogs with people in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, libraries, schools, colleges, airports, other institutions and the general public. These special dogs help increase emotional well-being, promote healing, and improve the quality of life.
Therapy dogs, Mallory and Alvin and their owners, spent time with the beginning school on Friday, November 11, 2022. Students learned about the important work these canine friends do. What is the difference between a therapy dog and a service dog? After meeting Alvin and Mallory and learning more about them, this is what some students had to say.
Christian Macus '36 said, "They comfort you."
Emerson Pedley '35 said, "They help people."
Odelia Kensinger '35 said, "They make people happy."
The visit was complete with lots of doggie cuddles, pets, and hugs!
