Students in AP Chemistry were tasked with trying to determine what properties of elements and compounds can lead to different flame colors in our Mystical Fire lab.

The lab is framed around a letter from Dr. Dante Brimstone challenging students to  investigate a product from Canada that leads to a flame burning in multiple different colors. I encourage you to look up the product - Mystical Fire - and see it yourself!

After being given a general procedure, students then worked to develop their own hypotheses and select their own chemicals to test this phenomenon. During the lab, students gathered their data from several flame tests and are now working on analyzing and reporting their results to determine if their hypotheses possibly play a role in the Mystical Fire product.
