What we're curious about
At our school, fostering understanding, empathy, and curiosity is just as important as instilling an excellent academic base in our learners.
Students in the AP Spanish Language & Culture course read the novel Como agua para chocolate (Like water for chocolate) by Mexican author, Laura Esquivel. After reading the novel in Spanish, students created and self-published a website to summarize, analyze, and teach the novel, which included character biographies, character diaries, cooking demonstrations, teaching/study suggestions, a graphic version of the novel, and more.
During International Women's Month, Spanish students at the Upper School highlighted the impact of women -- primarily Latinas and African-American women -- in comprehensive video presentations.
