On Thursday, October 31, Mrs. Nemisha Patel, mother of Maya Patel '32, came into speak to my Spanish Immersion Kindergarten class about the significance of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
Kindergarteners are a notoriously curious bunch. Some of the best ideas and experiences in the classroom have come from spontaneous curiosity, especially when everyone is seated at the lunch table. I wonder what would happen if… is a phrase that can be heard regularly at lunchtime.
Did you know that Crayola will accept any brand or type of marker (dry erase, washable, etc.) and repurpose them? Last year, the Lower School launched a marker recycling program in celebration of Earth Day through the Crayola ColorCycle initiative. Students collected and repurposed over 500 markers last spring.
