This week sixth grade students were surprised when they walked in their science classroom and discovered that it was consumed by macronutrients! 

As a part of their study on the molecules of life, Mrs. Mitchell ran with the theme "Cloudy with a Chance of Biomolecules". The scene was set, and yes, there were meatballs. 

After learning how to read a nutrition label, the sixth graders sorted through boxes and cans to gather information about each item. They used what they knew about carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and other nutrients to assess whether that food item was a healthy choice. 

Our next goal is to see how these nutrients are used within the cell and how the cell functions. Stay tuned!
