Dining Options for Lent, Ramadan, and Passover
For Christians, the season of Lent began this week with Ash Wednesday.
Starting Friday, February 16, and continuing through Friday March 22, Moravian Academy's Dining Services will serve fish on Fridays for anyone who celebrates Lent in this way. The fish may not be on the regular food line. Instead, students should ask for the Lenten fish entree as they go through the line and it will be served to them.
For Muslims, the season of Ramadan begins on March 10. Many Muslims in our community will be fasting from sunrise to sunset in celebration of this sacred month. For Muslims who are not fasting, Dining Services will continue to serve Halal meat through the month of Ramadan.
For those who are Jewish, Passover begins at sundown on Monday, April 22 and continues through nightfall on Tuesday, April 30. Beginning on Tuesday, April 23 and continuing through Tuesday April 30, Dining Services will offer a special menu for those who are celebrating Passover. This menu will NOT be Kosher, as we do not have a Kosher kitchen on campus. But the Passover menu will not contain shellfish, it will not mix meat and dairy, and it will not contain any leavened bread. There will also be matzo available daily. The Passover entree may not be on the regular food line. Instead, students should ask for the Passover entree as they go through the line and it will be served to them.
Thank you to our Dining Services Team for making these accommodations in support of those who are celebrating this spring.
