Fall Outdoor Education at Swain
Swain's Outdoor Education Coordinator, Jen Mitchell, is excited to offer two upcoming fall field trips for 5th through 8th grade students to Blue Mountain Resort. This trip is a part of the Outdoor Education program and will be considered a school day.
Students in grades 5-6 will attend the trip on Wednesday, October 27th, while students in grades 7-8 will be traveling to the resort on Friday, October 22nd.
While on the trip, students will be grouped by grade and participate in two different sessions. During session one, they will be guided through group activities to promote team building and communication skills with their peers. Afterwards, they will have the opportunity to challenge themselves as they complete different levels of a high ropes course.
The overall goals of the outdoor education program are to provide tactile and sensory experiences for students in nature, connect to the world around them, and challenge each student to find new ways to interact with the outdoors and with their peers. Rich with opportunity, the program is designed to push students both as individuals, and as a member to the world around them.
Please fill out this field trip form for grades 7-8 or this field trip form for grades 5-6 and return to Mrs. Mitchell by October 18th and complete the online waiver for Blue Mountain as soon as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns about this trip, please contact Mrs. Mitchell at Jmitchell@swain.org.
