Fifth Graders Create WWII Posters
May 15, 2020
Our fifth graders have been studying World War II and the key role that Americans played on the homefront to support the Allies' war effort. The students reviewed historic posters that were widely used to encourage Americans to do their civic duties at home. Recycling, rationing, planting victory gardens, and other actions were critical to supporting American troops.
Students then discussed some of the parallels between WWII's environment and the challenges of today's COVID-19 pandemic. They were tasked with creating their own posters encouraging present-day Americans to do their civic duty in this new environment.
