Recently, students in the senior elective, Hands-On History, had the opportunity to explore the Moravian Academy archives located on the 3rd floor of Snyder thanks to archivist Ms. Judy Gemmel. 

After a tour of the archives, Ms. Gemmel pulled two different collections of postcards from the 20th century donated by alumnae and asked students to first read the postcards and then analyze them to gather information about the two women and the time period in which they were written. The exposure of students to historical artifacts and the work involved in making and maintaining an archive fits well within one of the prominent themes we have been discussing in class so far this semester about the silences and stories of archives.
