Helping Make the Change: Holiday Hope Chest 2022

Sixth-grade once again successfully completed its Downtown Campus Holiday Hope Chest service project in partnership with The Volunteer Center of Lehigh Valley, which organizes the annual program.

In this program, winter-themed wrapped boxes are filled with suggested items and gifted to homeless and disadvantaged school-age youth in the Lehigh Valley.

This year, Arlie Seymour '29 had this to share about the project:

Holiday Hope Chest is about helping other kids who might not be able to get presents. Moravian Academy helps by filling boxes with items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, beauty products, games, earbuds, pens, pencils, hair ties, hats, gloves, socks, hand cream, hand lotion, and much more.

As a middle school, we were able to fill 208, and in my math class, we filled some more, so we could double our pledge goal! We donated 217 boxes! It makes me feel happy to help people in need.

Since 2000, the Downtown Campus has donated 2,546 boxes. Giving back to our local community is important to our school, and the sixth-grade team did an amazing job leading this effort.
