Immigration Lawyer Katie Albarelli '99 Talks Borders and Belonging

April 14, 2022

The Global Literature class was fortunate to welcome alumna and immigration lawyer Katie Albarelli '99 to speak about her vocation and the complicated issue of Immigration.

Katie Albarelli '99 is an experienced immigration attorney who has worked in the DC-Metropolitan Area, Baltimore, and in Philadelphia exclusively on immigration matters. She joined the field first teaching citizenship preparation classes in the U-Street Cardozo neighborhood of Washington, D.C.  Ms. Albarelli has lived and studied in many countries; including but not limited to Ecuador, Mexico, Spain, and, most recently, Italy. She has been involved in many grass-roots and political efforts for immigration reform and continues to do so. Global Literature's theme this spring is "Borders and Belonging," and Ms. Albarelli provided us with expert knowledge of the immigrant's journey of coming to the United States and our country's complex laws governing that process.
