Sisters Awarded Claes Nobel Academic Excellence Scholarships
Gianna '23 and Tianna Tout-Puissant '23 are among the top 20 finalists for the Claes Nobel Academic Excellence Scholarship.
This scholarship will allow me to positively impact society by pursuing my dream of becoming a surgeon," says Gianna, whose passionate career goals deepened after completing her Comenius Project titled: "Misogynoir: How race and gender bias combine to affect black women."
Tianna shares her sister's aspirations to become a surgeon. "I am so grateful [for] this scholarship, [which] will allow me to continue pursuing my academic goals," she says. "I hope to make a positive impact on society through my future career in medicine as a surgeon by saving lives every day. I am also extremely passionate about improving the disparities in the education system, especially among the African American community."
The Claes Nobel Academic Excellence Scholarship, hosted by the National Society of High School Scholars, is awarded to only 20 applicants nationally. To be considered, students responded to the prompt: "How do you hope to make a positive impact on society? How will your college plans help you on your journey?" They also submitted an academic resume as well as visual examples of their leadership in action.
Moravian Academy congratulates Gianna and Tianna on this well-deserved achievement.
