Supporting the AAPI Community
Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen a rise in hate crimes against the Asian American / Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Just last week, a hate crime targeting Asian Americans occurred in Atlanta, Georgia. Let’s reflect on ways that we can support our community members and respond to racism and hatred in our country and community. As Mr. Zemsky said in a recent newsletter, "As a school, this is a moment for us to demonstrate that we stand in solidarity with the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander members of our community."
Last week, Learning For Justice offered Addressing Anti-Asian Bias to guide those of us in schools in having conversations with each other and with students. There is something here for everyone, teachers and non-teachers alike. We encourage all of you to take a look.
