When woodworking instructor, Mr. Michael Brolly, isn't crafting with Upper School students in the workshop, he's involved with with a number of innovative projects. 

Now, he has his sights set on large-scale sustainability efforts, like coming up with a plan to turn the the Bethlehem Steel into an urban farm. First, he is starting small on the Merle-Smith Campus with a prototype fish and worm farm to test the feasibility of his plan.

He will be feeding worms using food waste from the Upper School kitchen, in turn feeding the worms to the fish in the big tank below and using them to fertilize the garden area, where the tank is located. 

The water from the fish farm is pumped into the garden area as well, and then drips back to the fish below. Fish waste will be used as fertilizer for the vegetable garden. 

As the project progresses, Brolly will involve students who share his passion for sustainability. If the plan succeeds, he aspires to expand it to positively impact our school as well as the local community.
