This year, students will eat lunch in their classrooms. They will have the option of bringing lunch from home or receiving a school lunch. School lunches will include a protein or a vegetarian entrée, a side, a vegetable, and a dessert. Individual drinks will be provided, and hands-free water bottle filling stations will also be available throughout campus. Students are encouraged to bring a labeled water bottle from home.
Follow the guidance from St. Luke’s and the CDC, we've updated our transportation protocols. Busses will have hand sanitizer, open windows when possible, and mandatory use of masks. Additionally, students will sit in a staggered seating pattern with only one student per seat, thereby using about 25% of bus capacity.
The new Duke study, published Aug. 7 in the journal Science Advances, rated a fitted N95 and a three-layer surgical mask as the top two protectors in simple tests using using a cardboard box with a lens, a laser and a phone’s camera to track particles released from a person’s mouth when speaking. Three of the next four top performers in the test included cotton.
