Athletic News Update: February 14, 2020
It’s Colonial League Finals time for our Varsity Girls’ Basketball Team! Come and out and support our girls’ basketball team as they look for their first Colonial League title!
Quinn O’Connor '20 also needs two points to reach the 1000-point milestone. The finals will take place tonight at Freedom High School with a 6:00 pm tip-off! The girls earned the spot after posting an impressive victory in the quarter-finals by defeating Wilson by 62-27 score. They followed that performance by beating Northwestern Lehigh by 49-45 score this past Wednesday in the league semi-finals. Regardless of the result, the team has earned a District XI spot and the #2 seed and will play on Wednesday, February 26th at a site and time to be determined.
The Varsity boys’ and girls’ swim teams concluded their regular season by defeating Schuylkill Haven with some impressive swims. The boys’ final record was 9-4 while the girls finished 10-3. Here are some highlights from the season:
- 200 Medley Relay Pool Record and 400 Free Relay Pool Team Record for the team of Anna Shoudt*, Pepper Ritchey '21, Mckayla Blazure,* and Jade Ware
- 200 Medley Relay Team Record for the team of Nick Ritter*, Kyle Jones*, Armaan Pandher '21, and Mike Phenneger '20
- Pepper Ritchey '21 set 200 Free, 500 Free, 100 Fly, 200 IM, and 100 Back Team pool records
- Armaan Pandher '21 set 100 Back, 100 Fly, and 200 IM team records
The teams now focus their sights on the District XI Championships that will take place on Saturday, February 22nd for diving and Friday, February 28th and Saturday, February 29th for swimming. Alexa Fegley '22 will be our only diver competing in the Diving Championship.

The Varsity boys’ basketball team lost a tough game in the Colonial League semi-finals to Bangor by a 54-41 score. The team now focuses their efforts on the District XI tournament. Their first game will be on Tuesday, February 25th at a site and time to be determined.
Congratulations to Abe Atiyeh '20, who was voted MVP this week by the Colonial League Boys' Basketball Coaches Association! Kudos also goes to Abel Saft '21, who received Honorable Mention.
