Athletic News Update: October 25, 2019
With the successes and accomplishments of our athletic programs over the course of the years, firsts have become a rarity…..except for this week.
This past Wednesday, our Varsity Boys’ Cross-Country team captured the District XI A team championship! This marked the first time in program history that our cross-country team has won a district title. The boys' victory margin was 14 points over Shenandoah Valley. They will now travel to Hershey to compete on Saturday, November 2nd in the PIAA State meet. Meet time is set for 11:45 am. In addition, Lily Eyvazzadeh '22 finished in 7th place in the Girls’ District race to earn a spot to also compete in the PIAA State meet. The PIAA Girls A meet will start at 9:30 am. Congratulations to all of the runners and good luck next weekend!
Grace Sanborn '21 participated in the PIAA Golf Championship on Monday, October 21st and Tuesday, October 22nd and finished in 15th place. Congratulations to Grace on a wonderful season on the golf course!
The Varsity Girls’ Tennis team started the PIAA State team competition in fantastic fashion as they defeated Wyoming Seminary by a 3-1 score. The team will compete in Hershey today as they face Knoch High School in the quarter-final round of the competition. The semi-finals and finals will take place on Saturday, October 26th also in Hershey.
The Varsity Field Hockey will return to action on Monday, October 28th as they will face Lehighton in the District XI A tournament semi-final round. Game time is set for 7:15 pm at Emmaus High School. Finals will take place on Wednesday, October 30th at a site and time to be determined.
The Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer teams will play in a doubleheader in the District XI A semi-finals on Tuesday, October 29th. The boys’ team will play vs. Tri-Valley at 5 pm at Parkland High School. The Girls’ team will follow them and play vs. Catasauqua at 7 pm also at Parkland High School. The District finals will be played on Thursday, October 31st.
