Athletic Update: October 2, 2020

The regular season is in full swing for our fall sports. Our golf and girls’ tennis teams have already started their post season with some impressive results.

Image 10-2-20 at 8.46 AMThe Golf team earned the silver medal in the Colonial League Golf Championship played this past week. Grace Sanborn '21 was the overall female champion earning the three peat and an automatic bid to the District XI Golf Championship next Wednesday at the Steel Club. Also, earning a direct spot to the championship was Evan Eichenlaub '23. Andrew Burke '22, Sebastian Holbrook '22, Armaan Pandher '21, and Joe Smith '23 will look to play their way in as they compete in the District XI qualifier at Old Homestead this Monday.

Girls Tennis-2Girls’ Tennis earned the first Colonial League Championship of the year for the Lions as they defeated Saucon Valley High School in the league tournament on Thursday. The team was paced by three 1st place finish in the tournament with Chessie Bartolacci '24 winning at 2nd singles, Dedee Hoffman '21 and Yan Yu '23 winning at 1st doubles, and Sophia Brands '22 and Grace Wright '22 winning at 2nd doubles. Isabella Bartolacci '22 earned a bronze medal at 1st singles while Jamilie Atiyeh '22 earned a silver at 3rd singles. Congratulations on a great day for the ladies on the court!

On the fields, we have taken some time to celebrate the seniors and their families for our girls’ soccer and field hockey programs. Senior Day girls soccerThe girls’ soccer team celebrated their four seniors: Louisa Capobianco '21, Grace Sanborn '21, Seyla Velez '21, and Chloe Wreaks '21 last week at halftime of their game vs. Catasauqua. FH seniors w_ familiesThe field hockey seniors: Paige Busch '21, Elizabeth John '21, Amelia Loftus '21, Emma McWilliams '21, and Maya Ohlandt '21 were recognized at the conclusion of the varsity game vs. Palmerton. Congratulations to our seniors and their families!

The results on the fields, courses and courts have been positive for the Lions. Here is a listing of the current teams’ records:

Boys’ Cross Country: 4-3

Girls’ Cross Country: 2-5

Field Hockey: 2-3

Golf: 8-1

Boys’ Soccer: 3-1

Girls’ Soccer: 3-1

Girls’ Tennis: 8-0

As we continue to see the excitement of our teams while practicing and competing, we want to make sure that our athletes, coaches, staff, and spectators follow the current guidelines set forth by the members of the Colonial League.
