Fathers' Lovefeast 2018
Our Lower and Middle School celebrated Fathers’ Lovefeast on Wednesday, October 24th.
Fathers’ Lovefeast photo collage set to the sound of the Middle School Violin Quartet’s performance of the Four Violin Concerto from Adagio-Allegro by Georg Philipp Telemann. Performers: Francesca Barolacci ’24, Elena Capobianco ’23, Ryan Cheng ’24, and Yan Yu ’23.
Students greatly enjoyed having their fathers in their classroom and participating in activities together.
After classroom visitation, fathers, students, faculty, staff and other guests headed to Central Moravian Church for the Fathers’ Lovefeast chapel service.
Head of School Mr. Jeff Zemsky opened the service, welcoming our fathers and sharing how his own father has provided him comfort throughout his life, especially at times when he felt particularly lonely or unconfident. Hymns, prayers and beautiful musical performances, provided by the fourth-grade choir, eighth-grade handbell choir, the Middle School violin quartet, and the Middle School chorus, celebrated fatherhood and all the people who fill that role in our students’ lives.
Through humor and powerful anecdotes, guest speaker Mr. William Best, father of Charlotte Best ’26, spoke about the wisdom he gained from his late father and how he hopes to pass along some of that wisdom to his daughter.
And, of course, no Lovefeast would be complete without the partaking of cookies and apple juice.
After the service, fathers gathered for conversation and delicious food over a casual brunch, hosted by the Parents’ Association, in the C.E. Auditorium.
Thank you to all of our fathers who were able to be part of such a special day!
