Fifth Grade Learns to Budget for a Holiday Meal
December 04, 2022
Fifth grade on the Downtown Campus applied their knowledge of decimal numbers to a real world scenario: planning a harvest feast while staying within a budget!
Each group was given an imaginary $100 and a set of store circulars to peruse. They worked collaboratively to read, plan out their meal, then get to work adding and multiplying prices to ensure that they could feed 10 guests for $100. Groups were given the freedom to present their work in any form. Our creative fifth-graders came up with beautiful tablescape posters, neatly designed menus, and even an idea for a new restaurant!
