Our Advanced French: Chanson Francophone class just completed a musical discovery project. The goal was to explore a variety of French-speaking musical artists around the world and to listen to songs from both past and present. There were required artists for the students to discover, but there was also some room for exploration based on personal musical preferences.

Students were encouraged to go beyond the most popular songs coming out of France and to find some music from different eras, genres, countries and backgrounds. They logged 100 songs each and wrote short reactions to each song in the target language. Finally, each student picked their TOP 5, all of which I've compiled into a class Spotify playlist.
