French 3 concluded its “la politique et la justice” unit today with a total immersion expérience : Les débats politiques 2022!

Topics were projected and students were given a position at random. In some cases they were able to argue their own stances using useful opinion expressions, and in other cases they were encouraged to think about opposite perspectives. Each team collaborated and took turns presenting arguments. Attentive listening lead to engaging conversations in the target language about various topics using the vocabulary and tense structures we have acquired thus far (mistakes and all!) I am very proud of this group and I hope it helped them to see that they *can* in fact get their message across, focusing less and less on the language itself and more and more on authentic communication.
