MA Seeks Host Families for Guatemalan Exchange Students
We are pleased to announce that this fall, Moravian Academy will be welcoming Guatemalan students to our Merle-Smith Campus as part of the Faces and Our Cultures Program.
We are excited to extend an invitation for you to explore the Faces Program and the opportunity to become a host family for one of our Guatemalan Cultural Ambassadors for 8 weeks, from Saturday, October 14, to Saturday, December 9. Hosting one of our Guatemalan students is an excellent opportunity to expand your child’s cultural literacy while at the same time providing a meaningful experience for a student traveling to the U.S.
One of our Guatemalan students would stay with you and travel to school with your child. Given the culturally-specific way that extracurricular activities take place in the U.S., these students are looking forward to experiencing the busy schedule that you and your family have as part of their learning.
You can read more about the exchange students we hosted previously below:
Benefits of participating as a host family:
-
Develop a wider perspective of the world.
-
Promote diversity and global understanding within the household.
-
Learn from a different culture.
-
Practice a second language with a native speaker.
-
Optional: Summer Program in Guatemala.
In the video above you will find the profiles of some of the students who hope to visit us this fall. Please take a moment to view them, get to know them, and welcome them to the Moravian community.
We are looking for four host families. Please reach out to Juan Rojo, coordinator of global exchange programs at the Merle-Smith Campus, at jrojo@mamail.net for more information or to volunteer to be a host family.
