New Information Added to the Community Guide
We have recently added new information to our Community Guide, which you can read in full on our Reopen, Stay Open website. Below you will find some of the key additions to our guide.
St. Luke’s Priority Covid Testing
The average incubation time from when a person is exposed to COVID to when they develop symptoms or can detect the virus on a test is 5 days. Testing sooner than day 5 is not as useful and can cause a false-negative result even if you are incubating the infection.
Daily Screenings
All families should complete the daily screening for their student(s) regardless of whether or not the student will be attending school that day. If your student is ill, learning remotely for the day, quarantining, or on vacation, we ask that you complete the Ruvna screening. Families who have communicated with the Admissions Office that their student(s) will be learning virtually for an extended period of time will be placed on a screening exclusion list, and will not have to complete the daily screening.
Downtown Attendance
If your student will be absent or learning virtually, please email attendance@mamail.net with your student’s name and their attendance plan for the day. If we do not hear from you and your child is not participating in class, families can expect follow-up from the school nurse or another administrator.
Upper School Attendance
If your student will be absent or learning virtually, please email attendance@mamail.net with your student’s name and their attendance plan for the day. If we do not hear from you and your child is not participating in class, families can expect follow-up from the school nurse or another administrator. If a student who is marked ‘present’ will miss any class time, families/guardians should contact the school before 8:00 AM by sending an email to attendance@mamail.net.
Lunch & Snacks
While it has previously been an acceptable and very appreciated practice, snacks/treats made at home that are sent in for other students or employees will not be permitted this year. If families would like to share a treat for a special occasion, we ask that they send store-bought, individually packed items to be shared with students or peers.
Domestic & International Travel
As you begin to plan for the upcoming breaks, please know that your decisions regarding travel may have an impact on your child’s return to school. If your child travels with you to a state designated as high-risk by the PA Department of Health or to a country designated as high-risk by the CDC, they must quarantine at home for 14 days upon return. Your student will have the ability to learn virtually during their time in quarantine. Please inform your campus director if your holiday plans include travel so our teachers can prepare to teach your child remotely when you return. It is important to note that this quarantine period cannot be shortened by a negative test result.
If a member of your family travels to a state identified as high-risk by Pennsylvania, the student may attend school as long as the family member is symptom free. If the family member develops symptoms and subsequently tests positive for Covid-19, your student will be required to quarantine for the duration of the family member’s isolation, and will then quarantine for an additional 14 days, as per the instructions noted above.
