Scholastic Scrimmage:

Over the last few months, members of the Quiz Bowl team have competed against other schools in the Lehigh Valley at the Scholastic Scrimmage competition at PBS39. Having participated in three rounds of competition, the team advanced to the semi-final round.

Alex Adams '20, Neil Deshmukh '20, Rhea Malhotra '20, and Angela Chen '21 defeated last year’s championship Parkland team on November 22.  Alex, Rhea, Angela, and Divik Verma '22 were victorious against Nazareth on December 12, seeding our team in the top four. On December 16, Alex, Neil, Rhea, and Angela unfortunately lost to Allentown Central Catholic in a very close match.

Having earned a substantial number of the teams’ points at all competitions, Alex Adams will return to PBS to represent MA and complete in the All-Star competition on January 16.  All shows will be aired at PBS over several months, beginning in April. 

History Bowl:

Alex Adams '20, Okezue Bell '23, and Nathaniel Schmidt '26 represented Moravian Academy at the 2019 Southern New Jersey History Bowl & Bee on Saturday, December 14.

In the history bowl, Moravian placed 3rd out of 13 teams in the varsity division and qualified for the national competition.

In the history bee, Alex placed 2nd out of 9 individuals in the varsity division and qualified for the national competition.  Nathaniel was a finalist in the JV division.

Quiz Bowl:

The Quiz Bowl team continues to attend monthly tournaments held at various high schools and universities in PA.  With hard work and a vast knowledge base, they have succeeded in qualifying two teams to compete in the Small School National Championship Tournament in Chicago, and the High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta.
