The Morning Call Names Shannon Danaher All-Area Swimming Coach of the Year
Moravian Academy swimming coach Shannon Danaher has been named The Morning Call's all-area swimming coach of the year!
As Michael Blouse of The Morning Call says in the announcement of this news, "Shannon Danaher faced virtually every challenge possible in 2020-21 as head coach at Moravian Academy and she’s deftly navigated her Lions program through each and every one."
Despite a series of setbacks and challenges, from last season's canceled PIAA 2A championship to some of the team's strongest swimmers unable to compete in district's this year, Danaher still coached an impressive six DIstrict XI champions from three different schools, including Moravian's Alexa Fegley '22 and Cece Traub '24. Athletes from Notre Dame-Green Pond and Pen Argyl also practice with Danaher.
In an interview with Blouse, Danaher says, "The best thing we could do was seize the moment. Swim each day like it might be your last. Be proud of every effort, every day.”
Her optimism and determination paid off, and we are proud that Danaher has received this well-deserved honor. If you see her on campus, make sure you congratulate her!
