Spanish Language Learners Give Back to Senior Center

December 09, 2021

On November 30, fourth-graders kicked off the annual food drive with a special nod to our friends at the Basilio Huertas Senior Center in Bethlehem, PA.

Students in both the Spanish "specials" as well as the Spanish Immersion Program led the charge to collect healthy foods from students grades one through five. Fourth-graders then sorted, categorized, and labeled the foods in Spanish. Each child signed a letter and handed a bag (or a box!) to the seniors at the center, meeting up outside as flurries created an extra special atmosphere for students and senior citizens alike.

Next month, fourth grade will again be collecting food, this time for our partners at the local Central Moravian Church food pantry.
