Students Represent MA at PMEA All-States

We celebrate the highest level of high school musicianship from chorus and orchestra members who represented MA at the 2022 PMEA All-State Festivals.

It's been a wonderful winter and spring for Choral Music festivals, culminating in the ultimate experience last weekend at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center, where three of our students participated in the All-State Chorus Festival under the direction of Dr. Amelia Garbisch from Bloomsburg University. Sebastian Holbrook '22, Charles Bingham '23, and Alicia Gordon '24 were all aglow with post-concert energy after their performance, which included works by Zoltan Kodaly, Stephen Leek, Libby Larsen, and Moses Hogan, among others.

Above, Sebastian, Alicia, and Charles check to see if they qualified for PMEA All-States.

They all acknowledged the incredible vocal workout they experienced during the rehearsal process, but were thrilled with the resulting concert, where all that work really paid off! I am exceedingly proud of these three young musicians. It's been an incredible experience for them, of course, but I can say as their director that it's been an utter thrill for me as well, watching them pursue this goal with equal parts determination, artistry, and trepidation as they achieved each new level of success. It's been a year I'll never forget!

Violinists Elena Capobianco '23, Emma Derby '24, and Yan Yu '23 participated at the highest level of orchestra, band, and choir possible in the state of Pennsylvania, with a rousing performance by the orchestra of music by Theofanides, Bates, and Shostakovich. We congratulate our MA orchestra students!
