Swain Campus Winter Sports 2022-2023 Season
Welcome to winter sports on the Swain Campus! Please use this link to register your child for their winter sport of choice.The first day of sports is November 28th and the last day is February 21st. Below you will find descriptions of each sport along with items they will be provided with or will need to bring. Directly below you can locate all paperwork needed for your child to participate along with the sport calendar. It is required for a student in 5-8 grade to participate in at least 2 seasons of sports at Swain.
Paperwork Protocol
All students must have the appropriate paperwork turned in and approved by Friday, November 25th, 2022. The following paperwork must be submitted.
There will be no admittance of play beyond this date for safety protocols.

Boys Basketball

Swain’s Basketball Program is designated for anyone who has a passion for learning. We encourage all students in 5-8th grade to come out and play for our team. After a couple weeks of practices, teams will be divided into Varsity and JV. The teams will practice either 3 days a week from 3:30-5:30 or 2 days a week.

Girls Basketball

Cross Training

Swain’s Cross Training program is designed for students to strengthen their own bodies through a multitude of exercises. We will focus on using our own body weight and correct form to build muscle. Teams will practice twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Dance

Dance will consist of learning choreography to jazz, hip hop, and lyrical dances. Dancers will learn dance terminology then will work together to choreograph their own dance. Dancers will also have the opportunity to perform during the halftime of home basketball games.

Yoga

With this yoga class students will learn techniques for concentrating, reducing stress, and connecting to their bodies in a loving way, while still being playful and fun. Students who join winter yoga will also have fun getting fit, improving strength, balance, flexibility and endurance with challenging poses. They'll develop emotional equilibrium, self-esteem, and concentration with the deep breathing, relaxation and meditation components of the sessions. There will be opportunities to share learned yoga poses & techniques with the entire class/middle school at Town Meetings.

Ski Club
Ski Club takes place at Bear Creek Mountain and Resort. We have collaborated with the Downtown Campus to intermix our experiences! We look forward to seeing everyone on the slopes!

Below are the rules and regulations for the passes:

Multi-session/season passes are non-transferable

Passes expire at the end of the 2022-2023 season and may not be rolled over to another year

No refunds will be issued for unused portions of the session passes

No refunds will be issued for any reason on a season pass

Minors renting equipment require the signature of a parent or guardian. Parental release forms are available on our website once signed it is valid for the season.

If you lose your pass there is a $10 replacement fee

Multi session passes are valid Monday through Friday all day (non- resort holiday)

Resort holidays for the 2022-2023 season are December 24, 2022 through January 1, 2023, January 14-16, 2023 and February 18-20, 2023.
When purchasing your pass or passes, you will need to have handy; credit card for purchase, full name, address, phone number and birth date of each of the pass holders. If renting equipment, height and weight information is also required.

Items Needed: Students are encouraged to bring their personal skiing/snowboarding items for the slopes. If a student does not have boots, skis, a snowboard, helmet, boots, or poles, they have the ability to rent them through Bear Creek.
