An Identity Ecosystem Takes Root at Moravian Academy

If you find yourself walking around on the Merle-Smith Campus in the next few weeks, you may notice a curious and colorful outcropping of mushrooms growing near the Rose Garden. But these mushrooms aren’t just any mushrooms! They are the living embodiment of the stories of the Seniors in the Story and Poetry classes in our Identity Ecosystem project.

Moravian Academy welcomed fine spray paint artist Tyrone J. Webb II to the Merle-Smith Campus on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, for an artist's talk and reception to celebrate the opening of the art gallery in the Walter Hall lounge.

SIP Kindergarten Paints Autorretratos (Self-Portraits)

During our art-themed week, Kindergarteners in the Spanish Immersion Program learned about the famous Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, and her famous autorretratos (self-portraits). We discussed the important elements of Frida's famous self-portraits, and we used them to create our own paintings, which you can see below.

Mandarin & Culture Classes Celebrate Spring

Our Mandarin class celebrated the spring festival also called the Lunar New Year this month. We are learning the culture and humanity through many celebratory activities in our classes. Starting with a Lunar New Year greeting on Spring Festival's Eve, I gave our Chinese learners red pockets to wish them all a fruitful academic year.
