The Story Class' collaboration with the Lower School was a little different this year. Conducted all on Zoom, the sessions had Story students being paired with Downstairs Kindergarteners and, in each session, we worked together to create a story.
During our art-themed week, Kindergarteners in the Spanish Immersion Program learned about the famous Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, and her famous autorretratos (self-portraits). We discussed the important elements of Frida's famous self-portraits, and we used them to create our own paintings, which you can see below.
Our Mandarin class celebrated the spring festival also called the Lunar New Year this month. We are learning the culture and humanity through many celebratory activities in our classes. Starting with a Lunar New Year greeting on Spring Festival's Eve, I gave our Chinese learners red pockets to wish them all a fruitful academic year.
