Grit, Wit, and Building Community

September 03, 2021

Building upon last year's on-campus retreat, we created an engaging community-building experience.

Over the course of two days, students participated in a series of activities with their advisories, classmates, friends, and teachers. On the first day, all students competed as advisory teams in the Grit 'N Wit challenges, where team members cooperate to solve puzzles and overcome physical obstacles together.

Students also participated in a Family Fued-style game with their advisory and brainstormed ideas for new Red & Gold games to consider adding to this year's event.

Day two brought the sunshine, and students spent the morning bonding and enjoying each other's company on the quad while playing lawn games and toasting s'mores.

Throughout the retreat, students focused on building relationships and strengthening our campus community through conversation and reflective activities like journaling.

It's great to see students taking pride in their community, and while we hope to return to off-site retreats in the future, there is no doubt that this year's event was a success.
