The Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer teams flexed their muscles in the District Finals.  The Girls’ team started the night by defeating Minersville by a score of 1-0 to earn their second straight District title. The Boys’ team continued their dominance over District XI A opponents as they won their 7th consecutive championship.  The team dominated Schuylkill Haven and won the game by 7-1 score.

Unfortunately, the first round of the PIAA State Tournament was not kind to our field hockey and girls’ soccer teams.  The field hockey team lost 2-0 on Tuesday to undefeated District 1 champion, New Hope Solebury. The girls should be proud of their season!  The girls’ soccer team was also defeated by District 3 runner-up, Fairfield HS, by a 2-1 score. After being down 2-0 at halftime, the girls dominated the second half but were only able to score 1 to cut down the deficit. The night ended on a positive note, as the Boys’ soccer team beat defending State Champion, Millville HS, by a 2-1 score.  The Boys now move on the quarter final round and will play vs. York Catholic on Saturday, November 19 - 1 pm kickoff at Tulpehocken High School.

Isabella Bartolacci '22 competed in the PIAA singles tournament last week. After winning her first-round match, she then lost in the quarter finals.  With individual District Championship and Team District Championship medals around her neck, she should be proud of her wonderful season!

Lily Eyvazzadeh '23 ran extremely well in the PIAA State cross-country championships last Saturday. She finished in 72nd place out of 209 runners.  Congratulations to Lily! Our Boys’ cross-country team earned an 18th place finish and had some great individual performances.  A big shout out to the boys’ team for winning their first District team title!

The start of the winter season is right around the corner.  The first day of official practices is set for Monday, November 18. Please do not forget to turn in your completed PIAA paperwork or re-certification forms if you are planning to play a winter sport.  Here is the link for all of the information: https://www.moravianacademy.org/athletic-forms
