Athletics Update: October 20

It’s been a full week of Colonial League playoffs and State Competition for our teams!

Mara Dubacher '26, Emma Xu '25, and Colin Schreiber '26 competed in the PIAA Individual Golf Championship.  Mara finished the two day event tied for 14th place with Emma in tied for 17th.  Colin finished in 58th place also in the two-day tournament on a tough course at Penn State.  The future continues to look bright for our golf team.

The boys' soccer team advanced to the Colonial League semi finals by defeating Wilson in the ¼ final round, but could not get past our neighbors of Notre Dame of Green Pond.  The boys’ team has earned the top seed in the 1A District XI tournament and will receive a bye in the first round.  Their first game will likely take place on Thursday, 10/26.  Stay tuned for additional information!

The girls’ tennis team had a week off from competition as they prepared for the first round of the PIAA team tournament.  They will face Scranton Prep on Tuesday, 10/24, at Northwood Racquet Club, 12:30 PM start.

The field hockey team is getting ready for the 1st round of the District XI tournament.  They will host Catasauqua on Wednesday, 10/25, at 4:00 PM in the ¼ finals. Let’s come out and support the Lions at home.

The boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams competed in the Colonial League Championship this past Wednesday.  Both teams ran well on the day as they both finished in 5th place.  Virginia Kraus '26 won the girls’ race for the second consecutive year in impressive fashion.  She ran the course in 18:05 and finished ahead of the next runner by two minutes.  The teams will now run in the District XI Championship on Wednesday also at DeSales University.

The girls’ soccer team had a big week!  They first defeated Palisades the #3 seed in the Colonial League tournament and then beat Saucon Valley the #2 seed.  The girls advanced to the Colonial League Championship for the first time in program history and put up a tough fight against Northwestern Lehigh on Saturday, 10/21.
