August 11, 2020 Athletics Update

August 13, 2020

As we await additional guidance and information from the PIAA regarding our fall sports season we wanted to share some additional information.

Middle School Student-athletes:

We are encouraging middle school students athletes to wear their athletic apparel in school on days when they are planning to participate in PE classes and/or after school athletic practices. Students will not have access to locker rooms to change after school before going to Glasser Fields for practices.  We will also designate areas for each grade at the middle school so students can store their practice gear during the school day.  At the end of the school day, students will be transported from the Middle School to Glasser fields for practices.  Parent pick up after practices will occur at Glasser Fields.  We will communicate a more detailed practice and game schedule once we receive additional direction.

Upper School Student-athletes:

Upper School Student-athletes are also encouraged to come to school in athletic apparel when they are scheduled to have a PE class and/or an athletic practice after school.  Please make sure to follow the Dress Code guidelines available on the Upper School Resource board.  Students will be able to have limited access to locker rooms after school if necessary.  We will limit the number of students in the space to make sure social distance guidelines are observed.  Students who need to store their athletic equipment during the school day will be able to use designated spots in the AWC hallway.  Stay tuned for additional details about the practice and game schedules.

Monday August 24th will be the first day for both Middle School and Upper School Athletics.

Here is the practice schedule for the week of Aug. 24th-Aug. 28th:

We understand that student-athletes and families may have reservations regarding a return to athletics.  Please make note that these summer sessions are completely voluntary and families will need to make decisions regarding these opportunities.  Our staff and coaches are aware of the difficult choices that everyone needs to make during these unprecedented times.
