Exploring Diwali Traditions in the Beginning School
This week, the Swain Campus Beginning School centered its attention on Diwali, a festival observed in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. It stands as the most significant celebration in India.
Preschoolers, Pre-K, and Kindergarteners students spent time learning about Diwali through books, videos, and visits from several Swain Campus family members who shared their traditions with them.
Tesh Patel joined preschool to share a story about Diwali and helped the children work together to make a colorful and beautiful Rangoli.
Prekindergarten learned about the history of Diwali and the traditions that accompany it from Swati Bhatnagar. They painted colorful Diyas to take home.
Kindergarten classes joined together and welcomed Manpreet Patel and Rutika Kalola. They listened to a book about Diwali and painted Rangolis. Kindergartener Suhir said that his favorite part of Diwali is “giving gifts to other people.”
