Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen a rise in hate crimes against the Asian American / Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Just last week, a hate crime targeting Asian Americans occurred in Atlanta, Georgia. Let’s reflect on ways that we can support our community members and respond to racism and hatred in our country and community. As Mr. Zemsky said in a recent newsletter, "As a school, this is a moment for us to demonstrate that we stand in solidarity with the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander members of our community."
Members from our joint Moravian and Swain community have compiled a list of resources to help navigate the COVID-19 vaccine process.
As a culminating project learning about ratios, proportions, and scaled maps, sixth-grade students enlarged an image of their choice by hand. Students were able to choose a scale factor between two and four as long as it fit on the posterboard. In their reflections, students shared how proud they were of their final products and were impressed by how much it looked like the original.
