Women's Awareness Club Joins Forces with Speech and Debate
Big thanks to Women's Awareness Club for joining us last week in debate club!
In addition to sharing snacks, laughs, and smiles, members from both clubs shared perspectives on issues facing women in today's society such as the availability of contraceptives and the harms/benefits of single-sex schooling. Both clubs agree that it's important for students to have discussions like these because they foster a greater culture of curiosity and understanding - as described in Moravian's mission statement. Anika '23 remarks that "Women’s Awareness specifically wanted to highlight the importance of men joining the discussion. We did so by sharing our perspectives from first-hand experience with those who do not necessarily have to think about these issues."
Join Speech and Debate
If you're ever interested in discussing a certain topic, or in merely practicing the conversational skills that govern our everyday interactions, feel free to join us! We offer monthly competitions and meet during Activity 2 in the freshmen-sophomore lounge.
Join Women's Awareness Club
If you would like to participate in discussions and learn how you can get involved in the fight for full equality, join Women’s Awareness Club. We meet during Activity 2 in Walter 104, and could always use more members. We currently have no male members, and look forward to increasing participation in the future!
