After analyzing several sets of political cartoons to learn about critiques of European imperialism, tenth graders in Mr. Sanville’s World History II class created their own political cartoons to demonstrate their understanding of European imperialism in a region of their choice.

French Students Participate in Manie Musicale

Upper School French students participated in Manie Musicale for the second year in a row. Manie Musicale is a French song competition started in 2017 by Stephanie Carbonneau and Michelle Fournier, two middle school French teachers from Maine. The goal of Manie Musicale is to increase student engagement in the French language, expand their cultural knowledge, and improve their French skills using popular songs.

Fourth Grade Begins Studies on Mexico

After completing our study of the regions of the United States, we have moved on to our neighbor to the south, Mexico. We are reading and researching topics on climate, products and natural resources, landmarks, culture, and government.

AP Spanish Self-Publishes Website to Complement Novel

Students in the AP Spanish Language & Culture course read the novel Como agua para chocolate (Like water for chocolate) by Mexican author, Laura Esquivel. After reading the novel in Spanish, students created and self-published a website to summarize, analyze, and teach the novel, which included character biographies, character diaries, cooking demonstrations, teaching/study suggestions, a graphic version of the novel, and more.
